Winners on the Nürburgring: ADAC 1000Kilometre Race in 1968 with Jo Siffert / Vic Elford (CH/GB), in 1969 with Jo Siffert / Brian Redman (CH/GB), in 1970 with Vic Elford / Kurt Ahrens jr (GB/D) and in 1971 with Vic Elford / Gerard Larrousse (GB/F).
Eight cylinders, capacity: 2997 cc and power:350 hp
The Porsche 908 was available in several versions, as a coupè (908/1) and as an open spyder (908/2 and 908/3). The coupè won the ADAC 1000 Kilometre Race on the Nürburgring in 1968, the spyder 908/2 in 1969 and the spyder 903/3 in 1970 and 1971. The engine power was the same in all versions at approx. 350 hp, but there were great diffrences in the weight. While the 908/1 coupè still tipped the scales at 650 kg, the spyder 908/2 only weighed approx. 600kg and the 908/3 ultimately just around 550 kg. With the 908, Porsche won the Manufacturers`World Sports Car Championship in 1969 and 1970.
